Our Bio

Each year, over 30,000 pounds of pewter are delivered to a small company in Grass Valley, CA, to be turned into everything from jewelry to promotional materials, awards, decorative hardware, contemporary designer objects and home accessories.

Odyssey Metalworks was founded in 1990 by Glenn and his wife Karen. Coming off its most stable year to date, the company is in a growth mode spurred by the continuing growth of its customers.

Odyssey Metalworks manufactures small items out of pewter for its customers, who are located from Hawaii to the East coast. Two-thirds of the products made fall into the household category.
The process starts with a master or original from which a rubber mold is made. Next, the molten metal is poured to form a casting. The piece is then cleaned, finished and polished. A typical order calls for 20,000 to 30,000 pieces per month. Making it happen are the companies 8 to 12 employees.

Odyssey's roots go back to the days when Glenn helped his father, who is a sculptor. Although musical, Glenn opted to work for a bronze foundry, then spent time assisting a sculptor, John Perry, with molds and special projects. By 1978, it was time to leave Los Angles, and head for Nevada County, CA.
